Katie-Lynn T. Bohannon is a Liscensed and Registered Dietittian Nutritionist (RDN). She has worked in clinical, educational, and counseling settings for over 13 years.

A Murfreesboro native, she lives with and loves her husband of 18 years and their 6 children. She has been a teacher in Discipleship Tutorial's co-op since its beginning in 2019.

She finds joy in tutoring a variety of subjects and grades, especially in a Christ-centered community.

Course Description/Outline/Objectives: 

NOTE: Nutrition Science is designed to be a full high-school level science course with labs. However, it CAN also serve as a high-school-level health credit if needed. 

The science behind micro and macro nutrients and their roles in the body is the focus of this class.  Labs focus on applied food science. Students will be taught how to think critically about nutrition related to health and medical nutrition therapy.  If interested in pre-med, nursing, or dietetics/nutrition, this class serves as a good introduction to college-level studies.  Open to students of any interest, Nutrition Science applies basic chemistry and biology to real life scenarios. 

Expected Weekly Time Commitment for Homework: 4- 6 hours

Prerequisites: Biology required, Chemistry helpful but not required

Recommended Grade Level: 10th-12th grades
