Note About Curriculum: We have been transitioning from Teaching Textbooks to The Good and The Beautiful, a more rigorous and more holistic math curriculum. Good and the Beautiful Pre-Algebra covers significantly more concepts than Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra, and sets the pace for students to be able to step into Algebra 1 the following year. It is also designed for students to go from Math 6 straight into Pre-Algebra.

Other books/materials, etc. required for class:  Graph paper, calculator (a graphing calculator would be beneficial but not required),  and ruler.

Course Description/Outline/Objectives: 

In pre-algebra we will look at applications of math in science, business, music, art, history and more!

My objective for the class would be to help foster an interest and enjoyment in math on the part of the students.  While unfortunately often times viewed as the most dull (and difficult) subject, the field of math is in itself an incredible testimony to the orderly nature of our God and a crucial part of the beauty He created for us to enjoy.

Expected Weekly Time Commitment for Homework:  4-6 hours per week.

Prerequisites: 6th grade math. There is a placement quiz on The Good and The Beautiful's website for math.

Recommended Grade Level(s) for this class: 7th – 8th
