Pre-calculus will investigate many types of functions, their graphs, solutions, and interpretations of those solutions. These functions may include but are not limited to linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. We will emphasize modeling and application of functions when possible. Other topics that may be covered in this course include analytic geometry, statistics, and vectors.
This course will be a pre-cursor to a calculus class and a solid foundation in Algebra 2 is important for students looking to take this class. Since this class is to prepare students for calculus, they will see beginning concepts from calculus including basic derivatives and integrals. Hopefully by the end of this class, students will not only be prepared for a basic calculus class, but will also have an appreciation for the beauty and perfection of the math found in their every day lives in the world around them.
