Rachel (McCreery) Helvering is the Executive Director of the President James K. Polk Home & Museum in Columbia, TN. Before she came to the Polk Home, she worked at the Tennessee State Museum for eight years. She has a bachelors and master's degree in history from MTSU and was homeschool K-12 before that. She teaches Tennessee history classes for Columbia State Community College as an adjunct professor.

Course Description/Outline/Objectives:  Students in this class will learn about the foundations and functions of the American government through the Constitution and the Tennessee Blue Book. They will study key founding documents and explore how both national and local governments operate.
