BIO     Jennifer Waldron is a homeschooling mom of four kids and happily married to Jae Waldron. After 23 years of marriage and two kids (almost) graduated, her desire is to spend her time passing on skills learned over the past eight years. Jennifer's passion is to encourage and empower teens and adult women to use their voice to set boundaries, as well as develop confidence in employing techniques that could save their lives. Her training began with an introduction to Krav Maga (pronounced krahv mahGah), developed in the 1950's, which teaches effective techniques from various martial arts and fight training for self defense. From there, Jennifer earned her second degree black belt in Taekwondo.    In 2016, she received her Assistant Instructor certificate working with young children, moms and dads, sharing her love for martial arts. Currently a student of Krav Maga, she has also furthered her education and development with boxing classes, twelve hours of Rape Aggression Defense course with the Smyrna Police Department, studying curriculum and reading countless books on boundaries and self defense.

Course Description/Outline/Objectives: 
My goal with this class is to empower these girls, reminding them who they are in Christ and to equip them physically, mentally, and emotionally for the world around them. They will learn to be more aware of their surroundings, how to assert themselves by setting boundaries through role-play and how to physically assert themselves when necessary. We will be reading and/or discussing books such as The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker, Safe People: How to Find Relationships That Are Good for You and Avoid Those that Aren't by Henry Cloud and John Townshend, and The Safety Grandmothers: The ABC's of Awareness, Boundaries and Confidence for Teens by Ellen Snortland and Lisa Gaeta. Some of the techniques they will learn throughout the year are palm heel and hammer fist strikes, knee and elbow strikes, how to escape chokes, wrist and hair grabs, and bear hugs. Each class will include up to 20 minutes of lecture around given topic and the remaining time will be used to introduce or review self defense techniques.
