SPECIAL OUT OF CLASS REQUIRED MEETING: During the spring semester this class will meet one day outside of the normal Tuesday sessions. This is a required meeting, the date for which will be assigned during the second semester. This extra class period will last from four to six hours and will allow us to read Macbeth together since the language constitutes some difficulties.

Course Description/Outline/Objectives: This year-long course will explore a broad range of British literature by studying authors from the Old English period through modern writers and will include the element of student essay composition regarding the material covered.
We will be studying a variety of short stories, poems and essays. These will be provided in a Reader (required) that may be purchased from the instructor at a cost of $20.00. The instructor will put the reader together and have it for the students to begin using on the first day of class. Therefore, payment for this reader should occur at time of registration.
Expected Weekly Time Commitment for Homework:
